"Some of these fellows are just spending their money like it grew on trees. I'll bet their wives are eating beans most of the time...What do you think about that New York trip I was telling you about in one of my other letters...I don't want to take any [extra] leave as I want to be with you when you have a baby. I think that would be better, don't you?...Well Babe, I guess that I will sign off for this time as I just heard "mess gear" go and that means that I had better go eat or I will miss out as usual...Your Loving Husband Buss Gerdes"
