At Sea on the way to La Spezia, Italy

24 October 1952
"I got [a letter] from Mom also. She had some sad news on hers. My cousins little boy was killed in a corn picker....This boy was about 3 years old....I'm sure glad that the folks have moved to town as they are the most dangerous of all farm machinery....At the present time I don't have one red cent to my name."

Note: Not one red cent, Dad? Yeah, right. You told us that very same thing when we were kids.
